Art and Literature
group exhibition at the crossroads of art and literature with works by Joseph Beuys, Richard Hamilton, David Hockney, Olaf Metzel, Mimmo Paladino, Blinky Palermo, Juli茫o Sarmento, Sean Scully and Jorinde Voigt.
There is no doubt that the fruitful dialog between the visual arts and literature is an integral part of the history of both disciplines. Far removed from the competition over hierarchies and values of the art forms, there have always been writers who use the potential for pictorial and spatial expression that is characteristic of painting and sculpture, as well as visual artists for whom epic and poetry become the inspiration and basis of their subject matter. The exhibition 鈥淎rt and Literature鈥 now turns its attention to works of art that make use of a literary model not only to illustrate it, but also to transcend and think further on a pictorial level and according to their own possibilities. Reflecting the great literary figures of world literature, modern and contemporary positions will be on display that enter into a union with these writings at the limits of linguistic expression.
