CRMCS#3: a selection of contemporary ceramics
The CRMCS concept was created in 2018 after a meeting between gallery owner Elke Helbig and ceramicist Kris Campo. This encounter inspired them to put ceramics on a pedestal and to pay tribute to the expressive power, sensuality, tactility, show value and visual richness of the clay material.
For this third edition, Kris Campo presents the work of six contemporary European artists: Nathalie Doyen (BE), Sien Godderis (BE), Patrick Loughran (FR), Johannes Nagel (DE), Alberto Scodro (IT) andCaroline Andrin (CH). CRMCS#3 focuses on the visual language of clay and the colours outside the lines. In this way, Kris Campo selects works that surprise in terms of design and sometimes even confuse the viewer. CRMCS#3 offers a particular perspective on the place of ceramics in the visual landscape and is based on the interaction between the works and the visions of the various artists. The artworks are combined with each other into creating their own scenography. After the sober and contemplative CRMCS#2, with its black and white tones, this new show features a palette of particular tempered colors. The different facets of clay are the guiding principles of the exhibition. For some artists, the form of the pot is transcended by its expressive power. Others start from the sculptural experience of the clay material.
