Call Up The Figure
Call up the Figure is a group exhibition featuring six contemporary living artists whose sculpture, paintings and photographs reveal diverging approaches to the human figure. A mainstay of art in the Western World, the human body is the subject of many classical masterpieces and an inspiration for contemporary artists examining concepts or ideas pertaining to the human condition such as identity, awareness and interpersonal relationships.
Creating art based on the human figure is a long held Naples Art Association tradition with figure-based classes held in The Von Liebig Art Center during the fall and winter months. Exhibiting artists are José MarÃa Castillo, Rainer Lagemann, Shelley Lake, Reynier Llanes, Richard Segalman and John Wesley Simms, Jr. Exhibited in the Frederick O. Watson Gallery from November 14, 2015 through January 9, 2016.
