Connections / Attaveqatigiinnerit
This is not a history of Greenlandic art. Nor is this art about Greenland. It is not Greenlandic art. It is art. Art made by artists who are connected to one another.
The works and artists interconnect in terms of subject matter, materials and processes. And they have countless connections reaching beyond this exhibition space to various art scenes and different places. And they are connected because they all have ties to Greenland/Kalaallit Nunaat.
All the works on display are on loan from three art collections in Copenhagen: the Greenland Representation, the Danish Arctic Institute, and the Greenlandic House in Copenhagen. The catalogue guides you through the ties that connect the works as they are presented here. The works could also have been connected differently. And this text could have made countless other connections between the artists, the artworks and the wider world.
