Daniel Buren: A Fresco

Feb 19, 2016 - May 22, 2016

The exhibition Daniel Buren: A Fresco responds the question: 鈥淗ow can you exhibit works of art which are connected to the place in which they were created, anywhere in the world?鈥. Since the 1960s the French artist Daniel Buren (掳1938) has been developing an oeuvre characterised by the motif of 8,7 cm wide vertical white and coloured stripes in private homes, museums and public space. For his exhibition at the Centre for Fine Arts, Daniel Buren created a specific intervention in which his work enters into dialogue with that by artists who have inspired him. A new work in the form of a film offers a complete panorama of the artist鈥檚 temporary and permanent installations. In combination with the exhibited works, the film summarises the essence of Buren鈥檚 quest for beauty: a Fresco.
