Everforward, Neverback
The idea of resistance鈥攖o oppression, to violence, to inequality鈥攊s present in the daily lives of many non-white Americans. Everforward, Neverback is organized by Professor of American Studies Beck Krefting and students in her fall 2024 鈥淐ritical Whiteness鈥 course, which examines ideas around whiteness in US culture and history.
Everforward, Neverback explores the role art can play in understanding the past and present and in creating potential futures. Presenting art from the Tang Museum collection, from the 1940s to the present, the exhibition focuses on various ethnic and racial groups, including Black Americans, Indigenous Americans, and other people of color whose experiences offer narratives of joy, beauty, and community as acts of resistance.
