Flowers in the Sidewalk in conjunction with FotoFocus, tells the stories of individuals stuck somewhere between an individual and larger societal systems. Each exhibiting artist presents work telling a unique set of circumstances balancing humanity within constructed systems of institutionalization and immigration. As George Carlin famously observed: 鈥淧eople are just wonderful as individuals. You see the whole universe in their eyes if you look carefully. But as soon as they begin to group鈥� they begin to change, they sacrifice the beauty of the individual for the sake of the group.鈥�
