Gifts for PSA: Donated Art Works from Xin Dong Cheng鈥檚 Collection

16 Apr, 2023 - 16 Jun, 2023

The Power Station of Art (PSA) presents "Gifts for PSA: Donated Art Works from Xin Dong Cheng鈥檚 Collection". The exhibition will fully showcase 46 pieces of contemporary artworks from 19 artists home and abroad that have been donated by Xin Dong Cheng to PSA, covering various forms such as paintings, photography, videos, and installations. The exhibition is part of the 17th Croisements Festival.

Being one of China鈥檚 first-generation gallerists and collectors amid the globalization trend, Xin Dong Cheng, with his keen insight and acute judgment, has introduced many outstanding Western artists to the Chinese audience over the past 30 years. On the other way around, he has also presented Chinese contemporary artists to the international arena, leveraging his art collection and promotion to actively contribute to the progress of the internationalization of Chinese contemporary art. To express his support for PSA鈥檚 development and collection in art and culture, Cheng carefully sieved through his collection before donating 46 artworks by 19 artists as a 鈥済ift鈥 to PSA.

By showcasing Cheng鈥檚 complete donation to PSA, the museum hopes to highlight his unique aesthetics, visions and values as an individual collector, focus on the initiatives, feelings and aspirations of artistic creators in different historical and geographical contexts, and celebrate the rich cultural, artistic and time-related connotations they projected. As these artworks witness and record the development of contemporary art and social landscape, they also present the value and significance of contemporary art from different perspectives.
