Halsey McKay is pleased to present Glade Hits, a group exhibition featuring works by Glen Baldridge, Jean-Baptiste Bernadet, Ben Blatt, Patrick Brennan, Shara Hughes, Lauren Luloff, Shaun O鈥橠ell, Hilary Pecis, Jerry The Marble Faun and William Villalongo. The show takes the seemingly innocuous trope of landscape as subject matter to hint at modern social unrest, environmental violence and, existential concerns. Each of these artists has a keen sense of the possibility of materials which they apply to printmaking, painting, photography, stone carving, drawing and, collage. Through a variety of strategies including obsessive detail, doubling, color saturation, and optic blurring of the picture plane, the works take on an otherness not strictly adhering to reality. The exhibition ebbs and flows between sublime naturalist depiction and ethereal visual interpretations wrought with paranoia and hallucinatory euphoria.
