Johan Tahon: Landscape, Form and Psyche
Gerhard Hofland is proud to present ‘Landscape, Form and Psyche’, a solo exhibition of Johan Tahon. Following the trinity set out in its title, the exhibition provides a renewed perspective on the artist’s practice and work. The works in this exhibition speak to our subconsciousness. Tahon’s sculptures are not just disfigured bodies. They belong to a symbolic order, and recall to the spectator an index of sculptural tradition, history and philosophy, but above all deeply felt human emotion.
Throughout it all, ‘Landscape, Form and Psyche’ shows the artist in its purest appearance: as a conductor whose works are to be read as a testimony of his continuous attempt to become Self. For Tahon this is the essence of his artistic practice, navigating the landscape of the mind, drawing from the symbolic language of form, and endeavouring the psyche of the human being.
