Notre 26e 茅t茅 (Our 26th Summer)
In French the word for Summer 鈥撁塼茅鈥 derives from the Latin word aestas. It symbolises warmth, light and
fertility. It's a season for long breaths, for re-uniting, for longing. A time when we allow each other to daydream,
to slow down, to come together.
I am Galerie Maria Lund. I emerged from Maria鈥檚 mind. She arrived from Denmark 34 years ago. During February 1999, she brought me to life, firstly known as La Galerie Danoise. In 2004, she sealed our story, and I became Galerie Maria Lund. Since then, we've been evolving side by side. An adventure paved with chance encounters, trust and commitment.
Twenty-six summers have passed now. I am now firmly established on the Parisian contemporary art scene, recognised for my discerning and distinct choices. Many of the artists we represent have joined major collections. I go forward with the calm confidence of someone who has taken the time to listen.
Yet summer is something else. It's a moment apart. Just like a holiday home where you can meet up with your loved ones - those who count, those who have stood by your side through the years. Our 26th summer is a reunion. A break. A breath of fresh air. It brings together artists with whom I share much more than an exhibition schedule: a near family bond. A continuous attention, an affection, a story.
This group exhibition is an invitation to put down your briefcases and open your eyes. To enter a space where we can leave our troubles at the door and take a moment with art. It brings together works that are moving, powerful or tender, mysterious at times - just like life itself.
At the age of 26, you reach your first achievements, you feel your confidence growing. It's a coming of age 鈥搘ithout giving up the enthusiasm of the early days. For me, it's also an opportunity to say thank you to all those who have supported me: artists, collectors, visitors, friends... and above all to Maria. Through her vision, her rigour and her perseverance, she made me what I am - and it's thanks to her that I'm still here today.
Welcome to Our 26th Summer!
