Planetary Poetics Graduation Show
Let us dive deeper and relate wider – are we willing to listen to the roots, swamps, mangroves, seeds, peatlands, trees, islands, tidal flats, moss and sand around us – what lessons wait to be learnt?
The exhibition Planetary Poetics, presented at Framer Framed from 11 to 14 June 2025, brings together the work of cultural practitioners from the eponymous temporary master’s programme at the Sandberg Instituut.
Situated amidst the unfolding ecological catastrophe and multiple ongoing genocides around the world, the Planetary Poetics master’s programme invited participants to explore practices – artistic and otherwise – that could function as tools for resistance and solidarity. Over the past two years, the participants have developed individual research projects alongside a large group of collaborators, including exchanges with Atelier Picha (DRC) and Futuros IndÃgenas (Milpamérica). Together, they have considered how to imagine alternative visions for this planet beyond extraction and extermination and how to hold space for the profound grief inherent to liberation work. Their practices offer critical and imaginative positions toward social and environmental crises – grounded in an engagement that allows space for different methodologies, experiences, cosmologies and beliefs.
Planetary Poetics is a two year master’s programme at the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam, that enables participants to develop artistic research exploring key concepts of the ecological crisis, including questions of climate justice, land restitution and reparations, reproductive justice, and constellations of co-resistance. Planetary Poetics is and initiative of Dorine van Meel and Josien Pieterse from Framer Framed.
