Sarkis: Mirror
Dirimart is delighted to announce the exhibition Mirror by Sarkis.
In Mirror, his works from different time periods marking the time while
also becoming timeless, open space to refractions, multiplications, screams and
silence by meeting the new works that he created for this exhibition.
Sarkis, whose works focus on the theory of memory, is introducing a layered
critical view to today鈥檚 social and political issues by inviting to the
exhibition various witnesses from the history. His works are transforming the
art鈥檚 competence to bring past鈥檚 evidences to present day, to the ability to
conceive the future by the artistic production. A battle scene dating from the
15th century and the lightnings responding to that scene transform to neon
installations and provoke the gallery. In this space, golden rainbows, images
whose history is touched by Kintsugi technique, moments enlightened and captured
by stained glasses, prizes of war covered with lipsticks come together and live
in a mirror. And many pictures witnessing this confrontation, get accomplished
with the faces looking at them and reflect our world like a giant mirror.
