Summer Vibes
Opera Gallery Madrid is pleased to present the second edition of 鈥楽ummer Vibes鈥 a carefully curated collection of works from contemporary artists, both established and emerging, whose works embody the summertime season through colour, form, and content, from 20 June to 31 July, and then from 16 to 31 August, 2024.
鈥楽ummer Vibes鈥 is not just a time of the year, it is a fun and optimistic artistic experience that alludes to the various sensations that we experience throughout the summer season. The artists in the exhibition express themselves through different formats, reflecting the overall mood associated with summer, good vibes, and positive energy in the air. Fun and excitement are on display as we enter a captivating world of vivid tones, fascinating shapes, and artistic brilliance.
The exhibition boasts a collection of modern and contemporary masterpieces while savouring the joyful fusion of art and summer spirit. Summer light becomes the shimmering reflection on the metallic surface of Jeff Koons鈥 Balloon Swan Magenta, or the intense light filtering through coloured glass in Manolo Vald茅s鈥 Cabeza con Azules y Naranjassculpture. Through his piece, Air, Belgian artist Fred Eerdekens shows us his mastery of light and shadows, while Anselm Reyle uses neon installations to play with light. Ron Arad鈥檚 Little Albert (crystalline) Aquamarine design piece is also on display, revealing the luminous swirls of pigment in the crystalline resin that makes up his work, transporting us directly to reminiscent of the sea, just like Cristina Babiloni鈥檚 deep seascape in her work Fr谩gil.
Through Xevi Sol脿鈥檚 brightly coloured portraits, the vibrant dynamism of John Chamberlain鈥檚 sculptural forms, the calm repose of Botero鈥檚 Reclining Woman with Apple, and the curved lines of Tom Wesselmann鈥檚 work, we celebrate the feeling of summer from both a literal and abstract perspective.
