The Birth of Modern Art: Sergey Shchukin`s Choice
The series of exhibitions was initiated in 2016 when the Fondation Louis Vuitton hosted the exhibition 鈥業cons of Modern Art. The Shchukin Collection from the State Hermitage and Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts鈥�. Summer 2019 was marked by two joint exhibitions organised at the State Hermitage Museum (鈥楾he Morozov Brothers. Great Russian Collectors鈥�) and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (鈥楽hchukin. Biography of a Collection鈥�). The new Hermitage exhibition provides its visitors with an unparalleled overview of Shchukin鈥檚 collection, putting on display all the works by C茅zanne, Gauguin and Matisse from this seminal collection as well as paintings by Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Picasso, Derain and many other exponents of the new kind of French painting. A total of more than one hundred exhibits are to go on display, with the Hermitage鈥檚 pieces showcased alongside paintings and African sculptures from the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
