The Printed Image

03 Oct, 2009 - 24 Oct, 2009
"For centuries artists have used printmaking to extend the range of their work and to make it available to a wider audience. Simple monotype, wood engraving, lithography, etching, lino and screen printing have been experimented with and developed to high levels of sophistication. Today, artists are using technology alongside more traditional methods to push the boundaries of print production ever wider.

This show aims to demonstrate the possibilities, offered through print, of artists making original and exciting work that is not beyond the means of the buying public. Each of the works shown is part of a limited number available or a unique image.

The exhibition covers many techniques and aspects of print by new, young printers and established artists such as Norman Ackroyd and William Tillyer alongside great printmakers from the recent past such as Blair Hughes-Stanton and Gertrude Hermes.

There will be demonstrations of surface printing and intaglio printing during the course of the exhibition which you will be welcome to attend.

I would like to extend my thanks to all the artists who have enthusiastically supported me in getting this print show together."
