The Spirit Of Postmodernism (The Ur拧i膷 Collection)
The Ur拧i膷 private collection from Maribor, which we acquired in 2022 with the help of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia and included it in the fund of contemporary Slovenian painting of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koro拧ka, encompasses 41 high-quality large-format paintings by artists who are among the most prominent and important names of late modernism or postmodernism in Slovenia. The collection was created in a limited period from 1982 to 2005, and it primarily includes paintings by artists who were in one way or another connected with the Equrna Gallery in Ljubljana in the mid-1980s. It thus offers a more or less comprehensive insight into endeavors in painting at a time when the then-current Slovenian art scene, through these same artists, became part of contemporary currents on the international art scene, especially in the sense of Neo-Expressionism and so-called New Image Painting, which were marked by a return to figurative art in expressive stylization and the exposure of private mythology 鈥 a distinct emphasis, in terms of content and motif, on the artist鈥檚 personal world, his dreams, visions.
