On December 21st, Sotheby鈥檚 Aspen is pleased to present the selling exhibition This Is the Color of My Dreams. As a reference to the eponymous work by Joan Mir贸, in which the words "ceci est la couleur de mes r锚ves" 鈥� meaning 鈥渢his is the color of my dreams鈥� 鈥� accompanies a delicate shade of blue, this exhibition will feature works by artists such as Alex Katz, David Hockney, George Condo, Alexander Calder, and Jonas Wood that pay homage to the natural complexity and beauty of the color blue.
Since ancient times, blue has captured the imaginations and desires of artists across entire cultures and civilizations. Throughout history, the hue has come to represent nature and opulence, divinity and simplicity. This winter season, the works in This Is the Color of My Dreams will highlight the cool brilliance of blue across a mode of artistic interpretations.
