Unfailingly, Broke
The dust has settled among the scatter of broken chair parts, floating books, and towering speaker columns. The thud from the farewell party still echoes faintly鈥攐r maybe that鈥檚 just the hollow in my chest.
If we had our way, nothing would be finished鈥攖ables would stretch impossibly long, meals would run forever, and blueprints would be used solely for kindling. Our small army of welders would keep building worlds under pulsing disco lights, sparks flying across the floor, burning tiny holes straight to hell.
But the grinders are dead quiet now; our conductor walked out mid-song. Maybe we can wing an encore and play on until the lights fade?
Others go for clean exits, but we鈥檝e always preferred the mess鈥攖he half-built, the precarious, the punch you don鈥檛 see coming.
