WE - 25 years Galerie Werner Klein
In October 2000, the gallery opened on the first floor of Perlenpfuhl 4 in the centre of Cologne. In 2006, it moved to its current location in Cologne's Südstadt district, on the third floor of Volksgartenstraße 10. Over the past 25 years, around 150 exhibitions have been organised with works by around 50 artists, most of them solo exhibitions.
Initially, all genres of art were exhibited, including photography and sculpture. From 2004 onwards, the programme increasingly focused on drawing and conceptual painting. In the field of drawing in particular, the gallery has become one of the most important locations in the German art landscape.
From the very beginning, it was about more than just a series of exhibitions. That is why the title of the third exhibition in 2001 was WIR, in which works by the five artists represented by the gallery at that time were shown. After 25 years, we are happy to take up the title and present works by the 22 artists we represent.
The aim of Galerie Werner Klein was and is to create a place where artists, collectors, journalists, curators and all other art lovers can come together to enjoy art and each other with curiosity, respect and awareness.
