William Kentridge: Five Themes
The exhibition focuses on the five main themes that have engaged South African artist William Kentridge over the course of his influential career. With a body of work ranging from films and drawings to prints, sculptures, and theatrical productions, Kentridge has offered a fresh and distinctive perspective on the contemporary social landscape, with a particular emphasis on his native South Africa. The exhibition includes, among others, examples from such well-known series as "Soho and Felix," works inspired by Kentridge's 2005 production of The Magic Flute, and a work related to his most recent project, the production of Shostakovich's The Nose for the Metropolitan Opera in New York. This exhibition is organized by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Norton Museum of Art.
