Xavier Veilhan

10 Jan, 2019 - 15 Feb, 2019

This exhibition, scheduled to open simultaneously in both of 313鈥檚 Cheongdam and Seongbuk Space, will represent the unique atmospheres of each space. Each work is presented with a significant degree of autonomy. Yet the colors, textures and materials account for the homogeneity of the ensemble, expressing the innate nature of the surrounding space. The materials used take on a predominant role in this exhibition, inviting the audience to immerse themselves into the works and the space.

In the exhibition, a number of figures in different materials are presented. Rather than representing each figure by the external or conceptual attributes, Veilhan puts emphasis on expressing the existential value that a figure possesses. Thus, the figures render corporeal presence, while at the same time being viewed as abstract sculptures as they are destined to be seen. Veilhan integrates industrial and artistic elements in his progress of works, not only conveying the contemporary aesthetic value but also epitomizing our era.

Veilhan also presents a series of installation works titled Rays, which have been produced in a smaller scale for the domestic environment. The series, having been developed from the idea of drawing forms in space, apply two-dimensional drawings to three dimensional works. The works are indicative of the artist鈥檚 very technical and even industrial exploration in developing his artistic language.
