For one of its last exhibitions before moving to the cultural hub in the heart of Brussels, KANAL, CIVA reflects on the latent potential of architecture.
鈥淪tyle Congo. Heritage & Heresy鈥� tackles Belgium鈥檚 rapacious colonization of the African nation, Congo鈥檚 representation in international and colonial exhibitions from 1885 until 1958, and the colonialist foundations of Art Nouveau (also known as 鈥渨hiplash style鈥�).
Style Congo. Heritage & Heresy explores the politics of cultural representation and appropriation through both contemporary artistic and architectural interventions and historic materials from CIVA鈥檚 collections.
