A History of Photography: Series and Sequences

06 Feb, 2015 - 01 Nov, 2015

Photographs draws upon the V&A鈥檚 internationally renowned collection, which chronicles the history of photography from the 1840s to the present day. In 1852, the V&A became the first museum in the UK to collect photographs and in 1858, the first to hold a photography exhibition.

This re-hang of the permanent display focuses on the wider visions of photographers through series and sequences of images, rather than through individual photographs. The display includes photographs from the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries, and features work by Sally Mann, Josef Sudek, Eadweard Muybridge, Lewis Baltz, Sian Bonnell, Sze Tsung Leong and Liz Rideal.
