The finest early collection of master drawings in the United States, the Crocker Art Museum collection was purchased for the most part in 1869-71 by the Museum鈥檚 founders, E. B. and Margaret Crocker.
A Pioneering Collection: Master Drawings from the Crocker Art Museum, which opens in conjunction with the Museum鈥檚 new Anne and Malcolm McHenry Works on Paper Study Center, celebrates the beauty, quality and scholarly importance of the collection in 56 drawings, including
works by Albrecht D眉rer, Fra Bartolommeo, Anthonie
van Dyck and
Jean-Honor茅 Fragonard. New acquisitions and new discoveries are also featured. Crocker curator William Breazeale organized this exhibition and is the lead author for the exhibition catalogue.
