To mark the 500th anniversary of the death of Friedrich III, known as 鈥渢he Wise鈥�, the M眉nzkabinett is holding a special exhibition about this Ernestine Elector of Saxony, who was the first ruler of Saxony to be portrayed on currency. Coins and medals depicting him and associated with his reign document his life and political career; these are supplemented by a wide range of exhibits from the Kupferstich-Kabinett, the R眉stkammer, and the Skulpturensammlung up to 1800.
