鈥淏ian Hong鈥檚 work is exactly what I call 鈥榗alligraphy imagery鈥 in the article, unique in the tide of contemporary calligraphy. She skillfully combines two Chinese characters for a square and grim abstract square into a unique new ink art. In Chinese calligraphy characters are written with dry brushes. Chinese characters basically have no recognizable meaning, but they are very devoted to the east spiritual experience of brush and ink. The so-called 鈥榗heng huai guan dao鈥 is a unique writing in this unique space.鈥 鈥 Liu Xiaochun, renowned Chinese art theorist and critic, 2019.
