In 1998 the gift of several hundred photographs by the Baroness Jeane von Oppenheim founded the Norton’s collection of photography. Over the last decade, she has continued to support the cause of photography at the Museum in every conceivable way—through manifold gifts of artwork, funds, expertise, leadership and enthusiasm. This exhibition celebrates her generosity by featuring a selection of works from the many she has contributed over the last 10 years. Artists represented include
Constantin Brancusi,
Alexander Rodchenko,
August Sander, Dorthea Lange,
Robert Mapplethorpe,
Sigmar Polke and Candida Hofer. Organized by the Norton Museum of Art. This catalogue was made possible through the generosity of the Alfred Freiherr von Oppenheim-Stiftung im Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft. Local sponsorship of this exhibition is made possible in part through the generosity of the Photography Committee of the Norton Museum of Art.
