Concord Collects
Concord Collects will feature twenty remarkable works of art from four distinctive Concord private collections. Works range from ancient Chinese Tang and Song ceramics, and detailed painted views of the warerooms of Canton through which China traded with the world in the 18th and 19th centuries, to striking colonial portraits of men, women, and children 鈥攐ne by John Singleton Copley鈥攁nd works by accomplished and influential 19th-century American painters including a pioneer of American Impressionism, Childe Hassam. These collections have been formed thoughtfully over decades by an equally remarkable group of collectors with broad-ranging interests.
As a complement to this exhibition in the Wallace Kane Gallery, an adjacent gallery鈥攖he Gross Family Gallery鈥攚ill showcase some of the most outstanding clocks, furniture, needlework, silver, and other items that the Concord Museum has collected in the recent past, including in many instances the finest known examples of each of those media.
