DMA CAMP 2025_Fill in the Blanks

25 Mar, 2025 - 06 May, 2025

Throughout the course of human civilization鈥攊ts repetition of rise, decline, extinction, and rise again鈥攖here exist blank spaces within the folds of history. These are the forgotten, abandoned, or forbidden sites of microhistory, or perhaps spaces that are ideologically undefined or systemically unimplemented, wedged between the grand narratives. These 鈥榖lanks鈥 in history serve as metaphors for forgotten events and memories, for marginalized and excluded histories. What, then, should we call these spaces? And how should we commemorate them? The exhibition Fill in the Blanks, featuring five participating artists, proposes the notion of these blank spaces鈥攃racks within the dominant historical narrative鈥攁s its conceptual foundation. Each artist fills a blank space with their own spatial and temporal narrative, visualizing the invisible, such as time and memory. As personal experiences and microhistorical time enter the public sphere, they become part of public history. This exhibition invites us to erect deeply personal monuments to these microhistories. Within these spaces, where memory and time鈥攂oth ephemeral and intangible鈥攁re rendered visible, we encounter and unravel the five narratives from five artists, intricately entangled within the exhibition.
