Festival Exhibition
Our annual Festival Exhibition has come around once more, always a riot of colour, with a lovely array of artists, both regular and new to the gallery, this year over 30 artists are taking part so there will be lots of fabulous paintings and sculptures to view!
New artists include include the wonderful Angelo Murphy, June Bell, Sophie Botsford and Fiona Longley.
Our lovely featured artist, Nicola McBride graduated from Grays School of Art in 1997 and has exhibited widely throughout the UK. Her hyper realistic artworks are based around iconic food and retro objects stemmed from childhood memories.
Focused on the medium of biro pen. She is interested in both the mark making achieved by the pens and the challenge of trying to control an unforgiving medium. Nicola is restricted to 8 colours plus black and relentlessly practices layering different permutations to establish a realistic finish. Along with bic biro pens, she uses acrylic paint to block in the background which creates a contrast for her subject matter.
