Giving Light Social Justice Series: Ori9en: Honouring Black Motherhood, Remembrance, and Reproductive Rights
BronxArtSpace presents Ori9EN, A response to the Black maternal health crisis. A community-rooted art exhibition and gathering space that honors the sacredness of Black motherhood and celebrates the power of ancestral remembrance, birth justice, and collective care. This multidisciplinary experience brings together artists, birth workers, community healers, and Bronx families to center maternal health as a human right and sacred legacy.
Ori9EN, co-curated by the visionary of the Giving Light series and Bronx Community Advocate Beverly Emers, in partnership with Flor Montero. Montero, a Birth companion, educator, and social justice advocate, will be making her curatorial debut. Curators Emers and Montero aim to weave storytelling, ritual, photography, film, and community programming into a living, breathing tribute to the families impacted and the birth workers who birth and nurture life.
