Fran莽ois Braunschweig and Hugues Autexier, better known as Texbraun, started out as booksellers before setting up shop at the Flea Market and founding their gallery on Rue Mazarine. Under their passionate direction, Galerie Texbraun exhibited 19th-century photographers while also championing contemporary artists like Robert Mapplethorpe, Pierre et Gilles, Joel-Peter Witkin, and Bettina Rheims.
