In The Absence Of Others
Erin Cluley Gallery is pleased to announce a group exhibition titled "IN THE ABSENCE OF OTHERS" – paintings, photographs, and works on paper focused on self-portraiture.
The art of self-expression has evolved over centuries with artists looking to themselves as the subject of the narrative; the lead in their own story. From the Early Renaissance to the Post-Modern and Contemporary, artists have been using self-portraiture in every major movement of art. Rembrandt, Frida Kahlo, Van Gogh, Picasso, Cindy Sherman, Richard Avedon, Diane Arbus, Andy Warhol – the list goes on of artists who have immortalized themselves through their art.
