without SHAPE without FORM, presents Journey of the Mind in New York, as part of the Queens Museum鈥檚 Community Partnership Exhibition Program. without SHAPE without FORM, an assembly of contemporary artists, cultural practitioners and thinkers committed to making self-discovery accessible through art, will expand to North America with its US debut to present Journey of the Mind, on view at the Queens Museum in New York. This international growth marks a new chapter in without SHAPE without FORM鈥檚 mission to deepen engagement with art, spirituality and mind wellbeing.
We live in difficult times, under constant pressure in a world where we are always connected through digital media, yet still experience loneliness. Anxiously searching for peace, happiness and love from the external world, while concern for the planet and social injustice leaves many feeling hopeless.
Journey of the Mind, a touring exhibition by without SHAPE without FORM, explores texts of the Sikh teachers and how through these the journey to understand the mind begins. It also traces how the mind battles against negative forces within, to find peace in troubled times through focused practice, community and selfless service.
Paintings and drawings by Canadian artist Kanwar Singh and short films by British animator Christian Wood, illustrate the stories of those who had attained the highest spiritual levels, which gave them the clarity and foresight to see all as one.
Deep Kailey, Artistic Director of without SHAPE without FORM says: 鈥渨ithout SHAPE without FORM has welcomed over 50,000 visitors across the UK into spaces of stillness and self-discovery. As we bring our work to the US for the first time, we offer an alternative perspective to the noise, division and disconnection that defines so much of our world today. Rooted in over 500 years of Sikh wisdom, our programme offers a contemporary path to self-mastery 鈥 one that transcends identity and centres the unstruck melody within us all. In a time of fragmentation, we believe this inner stillness can be a radical act of healing.鈥
鈥淨ueens Museum is pleased to welcome without SHAPE without FORM for their first exhibition in the United States.鈥 said Sally Tallant, Queens Museum President and Executive Director. 鈥淲e are pleased to host partner exhibitions that amplify diverse voices and reflect the. rich cultural tapestry of our community.
