Journeys onward: military veterans鈥 experiences
As part of Salmagundi Club of New York鈥檚 on-going dialogue with the military community, Journeys Onward is a powerful and inspiring exhibition that showcases the art and accompanying words of military veterans or their family members, shedding light on their unique experiences, both shared and individual.
Those experiences can be complex and enduring鈥損erhaps lifelong. Their impact and intensity may be hard to grasp for those outside the military community. Art can be a powerful tool for communication and understanding, transcending barriers, and fostering connections between people from all walks of life. The exhibit seeks to be a catalyst for conversations between and within the military and civilian communities.
Curated by Omar Columbus, a U.S. Air Force veteran and photographer, and Paul M. Murray, an award-winning photographer and son of two WW II veterans, the 2025 exhibit includes about 100 works across many mediums from over 35 veteran artists. This year鈥檚 effort carries on the history of the successful 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024 Journeys Onward shows hosted at the Salmagundi Club. In 2020, New York City鈥檚 Art511Mag.com reviewed the exhibit of that year.
