Shelter Stone: The Artist and the Mountain
An exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy celebrating the end of a year-long public art project, in partnership with the Mountain Bothy Association.
Curated by artist Edward Summerton RSA, Shelter Stone – The Artist and the Mountain marks the conclusion of a year-long public art project taking the format of a newsprint publication. The Strict Nature Reserve and the Mountain Bothy Association (MBA)have partnered to deliver the publication to over 100 remote bothies, shelters and mountain huts across the UK, Iceland and the Alps between mid-summer 2017and mid-summer 2018. The publication is only available to view in these remote locations.
The publication features contributions by forty-six writers and artists, all of whom have a fascination with the mountain landscape. A series of events including readings and performances by a selection of the artists and writers involved in the project will accompany the exhibition.
