Significant Form brings together an intergenerational group of four artists working in different media who each push upon notions of figuration and representation: Diedrick Brackens (b. 1989), Xinyi Cheng (b. 1989), Simone Leigh (b. 1967) and Elie Nadelman (1882鈥�1946).
The title of the exhibition, Significant Form, refers to 鈥渢he harmonious playing of one shape against another鈥� and stems from the aesthetic theory 鈥� important to sculptor Elie Nadelman 鈥� developed by the English art critic Clive Bell in the early-twentieth-century.
