Thinking Like a Mountain

08 Oct, 2025 - 16 Nov, 2025

As children we hold mud in the palms of our hand, sniff or even consume it. Unafraid and led by curiosity our relationship to nature is instinctual and primal. As we move through life, we grow, take on responsibilities, start to contribute to society, to create. Life is proportioned into stages. Each stage is unique to the evolution of the individual soul and its journey to liberation. Ancient traditions believed each stage of life had a deep connection to the relationship to nature and spiritual evolution. Tribes would partake in rituals, ceremonies and wisdom would be imparted at different stages. In the industrial age, we lost some of this, life post childhood got stuck in the rat race and, in the process the souls connection to self and nature fragmented.

Thinking Like a Mountain draw鈥檚 on Bill Plotkin鈥檚 eco-centric model to human evolution and success, initiating a 鈥渨hat if?鈥. Plotkin's work, particularly in Nature and the Human Soul, situates human growth within a symbiotic relationship with the natural world, proposing that psychological and spiritual wholeness arises from understanding and embracing our innate, nature-centred identities.

It emphasises developmental tasks that connect individuals to nature, community, and a deep sense of purpose. Each stage is represented by artworks that resonate with its core themes, fostering a deeper understanding of the human-nature connection and the path toward personal and communal wholeness.
