With their engagement with science, and their challenging of accepted conventions of what painting is and what it can depict, both Monet and Tyson show that reality is not what it seems. Both create work which investigate paintings鈥� limits and possibilities to capture the truth of existence. And both show also, that art does not exist in a vacuum, but is deeply entangled with the sciences as a part of its process of showing the mysteries of the universe and the material world we live in.
