WAAM Regional: Material Alchemy
(Woodstock, NY) 鈥 The Woodstock Artists Association & Museum is pleased to announce WAAM Regional: Material Alchemy, on view from August 15 through October 5, 2025. This presentation is a survey of contemporary work by regional artists that celebrates the visionary use of non-traditional, repurposed, and hybrid materials鈥攊ncluding experimental approaches that challenge the norms of form and function. The exhibition was juried by Jack and Dolly Geary, owners of Geary Contemporary in Millerton, NY. WAAM will host an opening reception for a round of new exhibitions on Saturday, August 16 from 4-6pm.
WAAM Regional: Material Alchemy comprises nearly 40 works in a range of styles and mediums by artists living within a 50-mile radius of Woodstock. Artwork selected for this presentation pushes the boundaries of its media鈥攚hether through innovative mixed media, sculptural practices, fabrication or the creative reuse of found or recycled objects. Works on view apply a variety of artistic approaches to deconstruct the familiar and reconstruct it into something compelling, provocative, and new. The jurors will select a 1st and 2nd place winner of the Nicholas Buhalis Award among the exhibiting artists.
