Once bitten, twice shy: Canadian artist caught using comedians' photos without permission promises no more funny business
The Art Newspaper 12 Jun, 2018An artist in Canada who recently stirred up controversy for appropriating photographs for a public art project has been commissioned to create a new, more expensive work鈥攚ith the promise that the images he uses will be his own.
Calgary artist Derek Besant has apologized for his unauthorized use of UK entertainers鈥� headshots in a public art piece. Earlier this week, UK-based comedian Bisha Ali complained on Twitter that an altered photo of her was used without her permission in the artwork.
