There are over 100 paintings from different periods on display, which are the masterpieces of Yao Tianmu, whose career as a painter spans 65 years. Since the loess being deeply rooted in his life, Yao Tianmu has devoted himself to the study of painting skills and techniques, and created many masterpieces with territorial features and personal characteristics, and has been outstanding especially in Chinese painting, New Year prints and printmaking. His representative masterpieces include the New Year painting 鈥淓lites Gathering for an Upcoming Conference鈥� (cooperation), 鈥淚n the Days of Arduous Undertaking鈥�, the figure painting 鈥淢arch Forward Triumphantly鈥擟hairman Mao Crossing the Yellow River to the East in 1948鈥�, printmaking works like 鈥淵ard in the Spring鈥�, 鈥淏ank of the Yellow River鈥� and loess plateau series etc., which all have certain influence at every period of history. Meanwhile, Yao Tianmu has constantly explored bird-and-flower paintings. He is especially adept at painting squirrels and develops his own unique painting style. Mr. Shao Dazhen, the famous art critic, thinks that 鈥渇ormulaic language has been ingeniously combined with vivid description in Yao Tianmu鈥檚 bird-and-flower paintings, which makes his works unique and personal.鈥� Yao Tianmu has never stopped painting and recently completed the works of lacquer engraving, including 鈥淪ong of Pingxing Pass鈥� and 鈥淐ultivators鈥� Deep-rooted Love for the Plateau鈥� and so on.
