This exhibition strikes up a conversation between the Jean-Jacques Lebel endowment fund and the Centre Pompidou collection. Over 120 works, of varying origins, take us on a chaotic crossing through the passions, struggles and revolts of the 20th century through to today. The exhibition gives equal importance to anonymous objects and major works, to tease out fresh perspectives and stories about art.
With his 鈥渃ollecte鈥�, as he preferred to call it, Jean-Jacques Lebel puts forward a vibrant panorama aiming to promote not only renowned artists but also those who have been unfairly erased from art history, despite working as much and as intensely. This includes painters, sculptors, thinkers, poets, players propelling all forms of art-action, cultural agitateurs, virtuosos in assemblage and collage.
鈥淐haosmosis鈥� takes up where Jean-Jacques Lebel鈥檚 great friend Andr茅 Breton left off in his workshop: giving equal importance to anonymous objects and major works to tease out fresh perspectives and stories about art.
