Kerry Dunne: Unsettling Beauty
Unsettling beauty is a body of work painted in response to the Kimberley by local artist Kerry Dunne. The forms and colours of the Kimberley are astounding, yet it is a place of extremes and the enormity of its space, the isolation and ruggedness, are unsettling. The ancient landscape confronts us with our insignificance and transience.
Armidale-based artist Kerry Dunne has been painting since 2011, since she took up the brush towards the end of her career as a university professor. Dunne has participated in workshops as time and logistics permitted, with artists such as Jo Bertini, Kerry Gulliver, Ross Laurie, Brett Masters, Idris Murphy, and Judith White. Dunne has also completed courses at West Wollongong TAFE and the University of Wollongong. Dunne has previously exhibited at the New England Regional Art Museum and Weswal Gallery in Tamworth. Her work is held in private collections in Australia and Germany.
