Robin Saunders: Heart Stones
Primarily a printmaker, Robin Saunders is a contemporary artist who works with an awareness of art's healing potential. Her transpersonal approach brings together ancient and modern wisdom that assists in accessing and expressing an inner symbolic language.
Heart Stones, a relief print series on Japanese Kozo paper, is Robin's creative response to the experience of undergoing her second open heart surgery in 2021. For rehabilitation she was drawn to nature. Robin walked the creek beds near her home in Limpinwood, photographing and drawing ephemeral watermarks she'd discovered on the dry surface of river rocks there. These organic forms became the symbol shape for healing Robin would use for her printmaking stencils.
