t sounds like a citizens鈥� initiative and originally it was one: the Museumsinitiative bears its history in its name. And it does so proudly, becauser without the commitment of Nuremberg鈥檚 citizens the Neues Museum probably would not exist. Today, as a society of friends and patrons, the Museumsinitiative continues to support the museum鈥檚 work.
The society sees collecting art as its most important task. Since its founding in 1987, it has acquired around 200 works. The museum鈥檚 25-year anniversary will be marked by an exhibition in the fa莽ade spaces, illustrating the collecting activity of the Museumsinitiative via selected examples.
