Nestled in the center of Victory Park, and often shielded from the view of passing drivers by the many large trees and lush foliage, is what Sunset magazine has called 鈥渙ne of the undersung gems of California.鈥� The impressive brick building has stood for more than 75 years, but it鈥檚 what鈥檚 on the inside that makes the museum worth visiting: Breathtaking panoramas of Yosemite Valley, including one that was once on loan to the White House, are among the dozens of paintings on display in the museum鈥檚 fine art galleries. Families can travel back in time in the history galleries to learn more about Stockton and California history, Native Americans and ancient cultures. With more than 34,000 square feet of exhibition space, there are also special exhibits changing every few months. Some highlight local artists and many feature premier works from other museums.
